2020 Status Report on Intellectual Property Rights

2020 Status Report on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Infringement discusses the extent, scope and consequences of IPR infringement and the actions being taken in response at EU level. While IPR infringement is still there to be fought (main producers of fakes being China, India and Turkey), the report outlines the positive impact of IPR investments (trademarks, patents, designs, plant variety rights, etc.) for the relevant industry and right holders. IPR-intensive industries have in fact shown to be more resilient during adverse economic conditions and pay their workers higher salaries than other sectors. The report also recalls a study of fastgrowing small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) suggesting that IPR-using SMEs are more likely to achieve growth and be more profitable in subsequent years than other companies. #intellectualproperty
